Boutique hotel experts Mr & Mrs Smith have named the Corfu Suite
at Blakes Hotel as the winner of the Sexiest Bedroom category at the first ever Smith Hotel Awards, held in London on 7 November and voted for by more than 47,000 members of the public from all over the world.
To win the Sexiest Bedroom award, which celebrates the most romantic rooms and seductive suites in the world, Blakes fought off stiff competition from the other 900+ hotels in the Mr & Mrs Smith collection, beating Ca Maria Adele, Venice and Secret Bay, Dominica into second and third place respectively.
Specialist judges of the Sexiest Bedroom category, sponsored by Kiki de Montparnasse, included burlesque star Immodesty Blaize, fashion blogger Garance Doré and Kama Carnes of Kiki de Montparnasse.
‘When we started Smith in 2003, I never imagined we’d one day be announcing the world’s best boutique hotels
. But for our 10th birthday, we felt that launching our first awards would be the perfect way to celebrate how far boutique hotels have come over the years. We were overwhelmed by the response – nearly 50,000 people from all over the world voted for their favourite Smith hotels – and I’m thrilled with the eventual roster of winners: it’s a rock-solid hot list of the world’s most desirable hotels.’
– James Lohan, CEO and co-founder Mr & Mrs Smith
WHAT THE JUDGES SAID…‘There's such a leap of imagination from the streets of London to the bedrooms of Blakes; they're so exotic, elaborate and escapist. The perfect boudoir...’
– Mary Garvin, Head of Curation (US), Mr & Mrs Smith‘It's no coincidence images of the bedrooms at this more-is-more hideaway have been used to exemplify the dream Smith bedroom: stylish, romantic, and a come-hither confection of fluffy pillows and opulent fabrics that you want to dive into and never leave.’
